The first point you mention about disliking RP in WoW sort of ties into the third point. Basically, good roleplayers tend to get overwhelmed with people who make troll roleplay characters, or don’t take it seriously (which is fine, there’s an audience for everything), so they get more insular and withdrawn trying to avoid the people goofing off about it. I wouldn’t say they’re all stuck-up or elitists, however.

I don’t see why someone should have to listen to abusive, hateful language, whether it’s once or repeatedly. WoW is a place people come to relax and escape that sort of thing in real life. In real life, you can’t always just excuse yourself and go find like-minded people.

There’s no reason to put up with it in a videogame, however.

I like how you consider an ableist slur and a gay slur not “serious” infractions of terrible language to be using, by the way. Those are both awful words to be using.

First off Welcome to the Horde. Secondly I’m not a big advocate to RP in WoW. 1> I think the sparkly vampires, and oversexed kiddos ruined it.
2> I don’t think the medium translate well to it. For example I want to win this RBG, not hear your story about how something..something happened to you. Want to RP stick to paper and pen RPG’s
3> RP’ers are notoriously stuck up, and elitists.

Those are just some thoughts about RP. Not that you really asked, but I do like sharing my thoughts.

I don’t see why even a couple of stray things like that can’t be serious to someone like me, why there has to be some acceptable “minimum” level of offense for me to change guilds on an RP guild. You can change guilds as many times as you want for whatever reason you like. But it was basically some stray homophobia, ableism and misogynistic jokes. YOU GOT ME. I’m such an oversensitive feminist, aren’t I? I can sense it behind your comment.

Throne of Thunder has 5 female bosses. Megaera and Ji-Kun in addition to Mar’li and the Twins.

Plus, he makes a good counter-argument to your reaction (barring the last sentence,) and your reply to that just seems immature and/or childish, especially when it seems you just focused on the last sentence and none of his other points.

This topic has always been incredibly sensitive, there are alot of wrongs and alot of rights. What I believe is not everyone is the same and share the same opinion or preferences and if we did, the whole world would be stale (But I will say there would atleast be no more warfare. Some may see that as worth it). And, I will agree on both sides, some content should be applied with great caution when dealing with a T-rated game. Though I will also agree that there are some things that are okay to ignore.

There are jokes many people will find very offensive and ofcourse that’s a big mistake to have such a joke to begin with, but there are just as many people who appreciate the joke and choose not to apply it to their own lives. This, I believe, is called Dark humor or Black comedy, it is fairly common, and usually those who enjoy it (and, who have a good head on their shoulders) would never, in real life, encourage such vile acts or commit them themselves.

Everyone is making very valid points (Besides those who seem to reply to others in very childish/intentionally aggressive manners.) and I wish to respect all of your opinions. I do have my own but I try my best to see the points in both perspectives.
